Summary
It is a new innovation that addresses the healthcare needs of some of the marginalized community especially in Loreto, Agusan del Sur. The Department of Health headed by Regional Director Dr. Jose R. Llacuna, Jr, MPH, CESO III and Maam Delma O. Legaspi DMO IV of Agusan del Sur in cooperation with the Local Government Unit of Loreto Agusan del Sur conducted the Indigenous People Summit last October 27, 2016, at Barangay Sta. Teresa, Loreto Agusan del Sur with the theme: “Tibu nu Hinang Para to kadojawan tu kayawahan para tu tibo no kautowan†a Manobo dialect translation of the Department of Health’s campaign “All for Health Towards Health for Allâ€. The participants came from Barangay Nueva Gracia, Barangay Violanta, Barangay San Mariano, Barangay Johnson, Barangay Manawe, Barangay Waloe, Barangay San Vicente and Barangay Sta. Teresa.
Background and Problem
“Tibu nu Hinang Para to kadojawan tu kayawahan para tu tibo no kautowan†is a Manobo dialect translation of the Department of Health’s campaign “All for Health Towards Health for All†to discuss the different health programs that would benefit the IPs group.
The summit provides basic health services to the following;
- Pregnant women
- Malnourished children
- PWD
- Senior Citizen
The challenge encountered during the summit was only 5% of the total IP population received basic health services.
Solution and Impact
The LGU was able to conduct the following activities:
- Discussion on different health programs
- Four antenatal care/prenatal care
- Complete immunization of children (0-12 months)
- Senior citizen immunization
- Good hygiene and nutrition
- Dental care
- Family planning
- Exclusive breastfeeding
The LGU also did the following laboratory services to all pregnant women:
- RBS
- CBC
- Urinalysis
- Blood typing
Linkages of other stakeholders:
- Philhealth discussed ALAGA KA.
- Provincial Health Office- Patin-ay; conducted consultation, provision of the dental bus, and dentist.
- LGU Loreto; conducted family planning provision and manpower.
- DOH; Provision of hygiene kit, buntis kit, Jerry cans, children’s kit, food, and manpower (HRH).
- BLGU; augmentation of manpower and food.

- Satisfied with the basic health services provided.
