Mayor Abigail Binay of Makati City, Philippines, shared Makati City’s Makatizen App with the participants of the online Trainers Training on Government Digital Services conducted by the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) and the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) on November 26, 2020.

The Makatizen App, the first-of-its-kind digital citizen app in the country, brings local government services closer to the people. Citizens can download the Makatizen App for free from the IOS and Google Play Store. Through the app, users can access the latest news, updates, and information about the city government’s events and projects through their mobile phones. Mayor Abby said, “these times demand connectivity, and we are fast-tracking our digital transformation by finding innovative ways to better serve and connect with our Makatizens.” Makati City created the Makatizen App to provide a more inclusive, engaging, rewarding, and convenient platform that will bring information and public services closer to Makati residents and other city stakeholders.

The training attended by 27 participants from 10 APO member countries introduced digital services’ role in increasing the effectiveness and efficiency in meeting public needs and identifying the e-government systems that promote quality governance and innovation.
